Still Runs Bases

Hey so I know we are always looking for new and different ways to improve our league.. including the rules.. so I just wanted to throw a couple things out there I feel would improve the league and I know a couple other people might concur.
1- This is more my idea... but 10 runs after 2 is too short... but I agree 3 innings can be out of Control. But 10 runs also isn't that much with more than half the game. So I think it should be changed to 15 runs after 2 then 10 after 3.. simple change and it's how softball does the run rules and seems to still end the blowouts early but gives a decent team enough chances to make up for a bad inning.
2. I think to to bases is the worst way to end a game... but I know you can't have 18 inning games... I'd say after one extra go another inning with a runner starting on 2nd or 3rd play the 7th like that and if still tied go to total.. or something like that... reason I think u can do this is by most total bases games are 00-0 and done in 45 min anyway
I love the tag rule how it is.. call it whenever and take it off whenever... you have to call it before.. A runner has until it's hit to decide to run so I don't see you you gotta change that
Duck I had something else but I forgot... If I remember I'll pop back on

I'll tell you one thing, I am going the other way. I think that 29 runs in one inning is retarded. I vote for 17 in any inning ends the fucking game right there if you are up by 15. 29-4 is a fraudulent representation of RBIs in this league and that game should have been called off in the 1st inning at some point. They do have knockouts in boxing & MMA in the middle of the first round. They don't keep on beating the shit out of the guy after he is down just because it didn't go the full round.

If they'd thrown a few strikes the inning would've been over much sooner. If someone is gonna give a team runs, that team better take them. With the tiebreakers the way they are, every run counts.

^ Absolutely need go get every run possible. I would hope every other team would have done the same. Didn't stop anyone from dumping on my team last year.

I think Guillod is on to something, let's explore it more.
Also, and this is just based on memory, but the vast majority of games that end in the mercy rule are from teams who could not hit the strike zone consistently throughout the whole season. So I'd like to caution by asking who are we trying to protect and what's ultimately our goal(s)?
If it's to simply give a team who had a shitty inning another chance to right the ship, that's a worthy pursuit. But if it's to "legitimize" anything, I think that's invalid.
Perhaps we can agree on circumstantial mercy rulings;
1) 15 runs in any one inning.
2) Lead exceeding 15 runs after the second full inning.
3) Lead exceeding 20 runs before the second full inning.
What do y'all think?

I think Anthony got it right with 17 runs ends it on the spot. Rich I'd be willing to go 12 innings after two, 10 after three ends the game but def not 15. As for the 6 innings on bases we can't add anymore innings. Just this past week here are the game times
G11 1:20 G12 1:15 G13 1:20 G14 1:07 PHILLIES/D-BACKS 2 innings G15 1:00 Not counting rain delay G16 1:10 Not counting rain delay G17 1:25 RAYS/TIGERS 4 innings G18 1:09 D-BACKS/RANGERS 6 innings G19 0:36 MARINERS/TIGERS 2 innings G20 1:15 RANGERS/DODGERS 6 innings
We need to get game times to around an hour. Early on the games always take a little longer but as the season gets rolling the game times will get a little shorter. You can see a 2 inning game can be as short as a half hour or as long as any other game. Six inning games rarely ever take less than an hour, usually closer to an hour and a half, a seventh inning would tear up the schedule as well as arms.
As with every year I don't like changing things mid-season. If we were to make any changes it would mean amending the D-Backs, Rangers and Phillies stats. I doubt people would be happy about that.

If more guys would show up to the winter meetings and be more active on the message board then we can have those discussion then in the off season.

^ Absolutely need go get every run possible. I would hope every other team would have done the same. Didn't stop anyone from dumping on my team last year. Your team should not have been subject to that. And playoff positioning to be determined by the other team's inability to field a real pitcher is not right so 17 runs makes it realistic at least. So if the game gets to 50 in the first inning, do you think that should determine playoff positioning? Then the team that loses out because of run differential doesn't play against that same "pitcher" later in the year.

I agree that 17 works, but that's definitely something that would need to be out in to effect at the start of next season. Plus your argument works both ways. The Angels didn't have to face Goo in their series last year, was that fair?

back to the total bases thing, what if the "losing pitcher" got a no decision instead of a loss? Maybe im being bias to the rule because I pitched THREE 6 inning shutout games, have a 0 ERA, and have the most Ks in the league with only a 1-2 record; but its just an idea haha

Though it would require me to go back and change so many stats that I will probably never change the rule. Also, you could join me and your brother on the Dodgers and just not get shutout.

I guarantee you don't see that amount of runs being hung on them again. Also note there is a rule that was not followed in that game. Something about 26 runs TOTAL between the teams ends the game.

The Brewers have yet to let up a run, our bats will come around, you can guarantee that. You are just getting older, heavier, slower, and weaker.
